About READ 718
READ 718 is a Brooklyn community-based organization providing individualized, evidence-based, one-to-one literacy instruction to children from low-income households in grades 3-8 who have fallen behind in reading. We are committed to closing the literacy gap in Brooklyn and to helping to ensure educational access and equity for all Brooklyn children. Our immediate goal is for our participants to leave our program reading at or above grade level; our ultimate goal is to make a substantial impact on our students’ lifelong education and life outcomes by strengthening their fundamental reading skills.
We operate in two centers in Brooklyn (Boerum Hill and Bed-Stuy) and also have a fully remote program.
